The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

Dr. Chris DiLorenzo

Dr. Chris DiLorenzo grew up in Ft. Washington, Maryland. He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in biology in 2000. Continuing a family tradition, he entered the dental profession as his father has practiced orthodontics in the community for almost thirty years. He graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School and participated in an externship for the U.S. Army at Walter Reed Hospital in Oral Cranial Facial Surgery.

Dr. DiLorenzo learned the importance of a patient's individual needs and has incorporated this into his everyday practice of general dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Patuxent Dental Society, the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, and keeps abreast on dental research and continuing education courses. Dr. DiLorenzo enjoys running, fishing, kayaking and other outdoor activities.

Dr. James R. Hemler

Dr. Hemler graduated from Loyola College of Baltimore with a degree in biology in 1968. He then attended the University of Maryland Dental School, and graduated in 1972. Between 1972 and 1974 he was a captain in the United States Army in Monterey, California. The military honed Dr. Hemler's skills in oral surgery and endodontics, as well as restorative dentistry.

After the military, Dr. Hemler worked as an associate dentist until he established his family practice in Bryans Road, Maryland. 2019 marks the 43rd Anniversary serving Bryans Road.

Since that time, in addition to a busy clinical schedule, Dr. Hemler has done extensive continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, implants, tooth colored composites, endodontics, and much more. Dr. Hemler is a member of the ADA and the Patuxent Dental Society.

Dr. Hemler currently lives in La Plata with his wife Pat. He enjoys his ten grandkids, as well as running, biking, hiking, and golf.

Trish Hill RDH

Trish was born and raised in Baltiomore, Maryland.  She worked as a Dental Assistant for 10 years prior to entering the Dental Hygiene program at the Community College of Baltimore. She graduated in 1991.

Trish moved to La Plata, Maryland in 2003 and started working with Dr. Hemler and his staff. She enjoys working in a family atmosphere. She is also committed to the Southern Maryland Dental Hygiene Association and takes continuing education courses.

She is a mother of two wonderful daughters.

She enjoys swimming, biking, walking and any other outdoor activities, including gardening


Agnes Paragas - Dental Assistant

Agnes was born in the Philippines, where she was a licensed dentist.  She moved to the United States in 2002.

After classes in oral radiography at the College of Southern Maryland, Agnes became a licened dental assistant.  She has been Dr. Hemler's dental assistant since 2007. 

Agnes has a wonderful son, Gilbert Andre.

In her free time, Agnes enjoys cooking and baking, then having friends over to enjoy the fruits of her labors.  Photography is another one of her hobbies.


Amy Hunt RDH

Amy started her training at Bolling AFB, where she completed the American Red Cross Dental Assistant training program.  She wanted to work more independently with patients, so she became a dental hygienist in order to educate patients about their oral health.  Amy graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Allegany College of Maryland.

In her spare time, Amy enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Valerie has worked in the office since 1990 and also lives in the Indian Head area where she enjoys spending time with her family.
